Sioux City's education system is comprised of accomplished public and private schools.
Sioux City Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Iowa. The district is comprised of 19 elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools.
• The Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools of Sioux City is a member of the Iowa Association of Christian Schools and the American Association of Christian Schools. The school system is made up of eight elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
Siouxland Community Christian School is a non-denominational K-12 Christian school accredited by Christian Schools International.

Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City is a regional medical center that meets the needs of residents in a 33-county area of western Iowa, eastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota. Mercy-Sioux City is also home to the only Level II Trauma Center in Western Iowa, and provides a vital, lifesaving link to rural areas via Mercy Air Care, the hospital's helicopter ambulance service.
